Public Works

Overview
The Public Works Department manages the design, construction, and operation and maintenance of all City-owned public infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, water, sewer, stormwater, parks and the cemetery. The department is organized into two major divisions: the Engineering and Construction Division and the Operations Division. The department is managed by the Public Works Director with administrative support provided by the Utility Clerk/Administrative Coordinator.

Engineering & Construction Division
The City Engineer oversees the Engineering and Construction Division and is responsible for providing technical support to all city departments and for design of all capital and development projects associated with new and existing infrastructure. In addition, the Engineering and Construction Division employs a Development Inspector, who is responsible for inspection of all construction activities associated with new and existing infrastructure.

Operations Division
The Operations Division operates and maintains the City's infrastructure. The Public Works Director oversees the Operations Divisions with support provided by the Utilities Supervisor and the Facilities Supervisor. The supervisors and city maintenance workers complete the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the city's infrastructure.
